Healthcare Projects
Hospital Construction
Major Hospital & Rampart Medical Center
These two projects were constructed for Major Hospital in Shelbyville, Indiana. An addition was added to the emergency room, as well as a new entry to Major Hospital. The Rampart facility is a multi-million dollar, multi-specialty office complex that is home to over 30 physician suites. The two projects cover the broad range of medical construction our construction teams have been involved in. Major Hospital represented a publicly bid project and typical hospital construction and procedures. Rampart was a negotiated project, where we also functioned as the Construction Manager. The facility itself was built like many other commercial projects we have done, but then we finished each individual suite per the requirements of the tenants. This required an experienced construction team, as each tenants had different medical needs, as well as aesthetic tastes. The result of both projects was a satisfied, repeat customer.
The Dr. J. Michael Hansen Oncology Center
This National Merit Award winning project was constructed for Margaret Mary Community Hospital in 2002. It was designed to provide cancer treatment to the rural areas of eastern Indian and western Ohio. Located in Batesville, Indiana: the project consisted of the development of 50 acres including the 52,000 square foot, 2-story Oncology Center. The prarie-style exterior with Indiana Sandstone is familiar and comforting for the patients. The project was approximately $12,000,000 and was completed in 11 months. The accomplish the short construction schedule, Bruns-Gutzwiller worked closely with the project architect (BSA Lifestructures out of Indianapolis) to ensure the facility would be open to the public on time.
Dearborn County Hospital Birthing Center
This project was originally constructed in 1995, and was expanded in 2001. Located in Lawrenceburg, Indiana: the birthing center was designed to provide a comforting, family atmosphere where expecting mothers could share the birthing experience with their entire family. The challenge in constructing this Center was integrating the necessary medical equipment and layout with the owners desire for a home-like interior. By working closely with the Architect, our team successfully merged the needs of the medical staff with a beautiful, warm room where families could gather together to celebrate their new arrivals.
