Thomas J. Bruns
Project Manager and Owner Tom Bruns is a 1980 graduate of Rose Hulman Institute of Technology receiving a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Before joining the family business in 1988, Tom worked for Brown and Root Construction’s petrochemical division for four years and for Pepper Southern Construction in general contracting for five years.
James A. Bruns, P.E.
Project Manager and Owner Jim Bruns is a 1981 graduate of the University of Notre Dame receiving a B.S. in Civil Engineering and also holds an MBA from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois. Jim is a registered professional in three states. Prior to joining the company, in 1990, Jim worked as a project manager for Pepper Construction in Chicago for nine years. Jim is also a Comissioner of the State of Indiana Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission.
Timothy D. Bruns
Project Manager and Owner Tim Bruns is a 1985 graduate of Purdue University, with a B.S. in Construction Technology. Before coming to Bruns-Gutzwiller in 1988, he worked as a project engineer for Pepper Southern Construction in the state of Florida.
Anthony Gutzwiller
Project Manager and Owner Tony Gutzwiller is a graduate of Purdue University, with a B.S. in Civil Engineering/Construction Management. Prior to him joining Bruns-Gutzwiller he work with Pepper Construction Company in Chicago, F.A Wilhelm in Indianapolis, and F.H. Paschen in Chicago. Tony has also worked in all phases of the construction management process. In addition, Tony holds an Association Healthcare Construction Certificate presented by the American Society of Healthcare Engineering.
William R. Gutzwiller
Project Manager and Owner Bill Gutzwiller gained his construction experience in the family business, the W. A. Gutzwiller Company beginning in 1961. Bill received his formal education from Purdue University. Bill has also worked in all phases of construction from field management to president. Bill is treasurer of the Indiana AGC and chairman of the AGC Political Action Committee and a member of the Board of Trustees for Ivy Tech State College. Bill is semi-retired since 2009, but is still active in the company as a on-staff consultant.
M. Scott Smith
CFO Scott Smith is a graduate of Northern Kentucky University with a double major in History and Business Administration. Scott began his professional career as a cost accountant/materials manager at Edward E. Conn, Co. in Aurora. Then Scott joined the Bruns-Gutzwiller team in 1986 as Controller/Safety Manager/Project Accounting & Scheduling.

The company retains the general offices with ten professional and administrative personnel and maintains a year-round work force 100 skilled craftsmen. These individuals give Bruns-Gutzwiller, inc. the control of all aspects of the construction and general contracting process. Their teamwork and loyalty give Bruns-Gutzwiller, Inc. the advantage of being able to control the schedule, cost and quality, while maintaining flexibility and safety.
